USAID to buy cheaper Chinese Condoms.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) prides itself on it's "livelyhood restoring" programs - such as the agency's funding for the purchase and distribution of 500 double wheel spinning units (made from wood and bicycle rims) for coir spinners in Sri Lanka who lost their equipment in the December 26, 2004 tsunami.

In eight hours, three workers can produce 30 pounds of coir rope from coconut husks and reap the grand total of a $3 profit.

Another of USAID's programs involves the free distribution of condoms in Third World countries.....all in the name of HIV/AIDS prevention.

I guess, now, the USAID should make it's services available to the 300 workers in Alabama who will more than likely lose their jobs now that the USAID has decided to purchase condoms from China rather than Alatech Healthcare Products in Eufala, Alabama.

The phrase 'Buy American First' doesn't mean a thing when you can buy condoms for 2 cents each from overseas. The Alabama-made condoms cost the agency 5 cents each.

Meanwhile, Alatech officials say their fight for condom supremacy is far from over. Workers aren’t taking this....huh....lying down. The workers are keeping a stiff.....huh...upper lip. It's always possible that the workers could sue the government agency. I just hope their evidence stands up in court.
