Yesterday's Photos

It's a bit rainy this morning, so it looks like there won't be much work being done on the wall today. That gives me an opportunity to catch up on posting photos of the work done so far.

It's cumbersome posting more than five or six photos at a time; I have enough photos now for several blog posts.

More Work

I posted earlier that, now that the house is pretty much finished, we'll be having some much needed work done outside. Namely, a new fence and a proper gate.

My wife and her papa deal with the workers - I mostly check on them from time to time and photograph the progress.

It was my understanding when we began that the lower section of the fence would be a base of concrete blocks. I asked my wife this morning how high they'd go with the block.
"Up to here," she said, putting her hand at about the five foot level.

"That's not a fence," I said. "That's a wall!"

Of course, that's fine with me. Just a language barrier, so to speak.

I've already taken a good many photos.....too many for one blog post. There'll be more to follow.

Starting on a New Fence

With the house pretty much finished, we've hired a couple of crews to do some work outside. One group will be working on putting up a new fence - the second crew will replace the gate with one that's actually a proper gate and not a wooden mish-mash.
I've taken a few photos the past two days. There will, of course, be more photos as the work progresses.

The 2020 Book List

In 2011 I began making a list of all the books I had read through out the year. On January 01 of 2012, I started the tradition of posting the annual list of the previous year on the first day of the New Year.

This year, I'm carrying on the tradition, but I'll be posting the list on two blogs simultaneously.

In yesterday's post, I mentioned that, although I was nearly finished reading Forever Amber, the novel would most likely not make it to the 2020 list. With about 10% left to read, it will be the first novel on the 2021 list.

When posting the 2017 book list, I discovered that a typed list might not be viewed properly on a mobile device. That year, I began taking a screen shot of the book list and posting the photo rather than simply typing the list. I'm continuing that today.

As I was writing this post, we experienced a brown-out. Although still early morning on January 01, it was already the 2nd brown-out of 2021. When the power went out, I lost everything I had written and had to begin again. It may be a New Year, but things are starting out as usual.

Sixteen Million Views

This past October, I mentioned on two of my blogs [robertsimms.blogspot.com/2020/10/fifteen-million and sorryalltheclevernamesaretaken.blogspot.com/2020/10/15-million-views] that the photos I've uploaded to Google Maps had received in excess of 15 million views. Now, in late December, I've learned that these photos have received more than 16 million views.

Naturally, I'm proud of this accomplishment.

I hadn't been checking the stats of late, so I don't know when the number had passed the 16 million mark. Of course, I have uploaded a few photos since October, though not enough to warrant this additional number of views.

I did notice that my photo of what was then known as Silliman University Anthropology Museum was the number one viewed photo in October and December. This photo has been my most viewed photo since, at least 2018.

In October, the number two spot was held by Negros Oriental State University - Main Campus with St. Paul University Dumaguete in third. Now, the two schools have switched places.
