I want to state at the beginning that I will not censor so-called profanity in this post. If you find such words objectionable, then discontinue reading this and retreat to your safe zone.
Rashida Tlaib is half of the duo that became the first Muslim women to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, the other being Ilhan Omar, of whom I wrote about when some became upset when they believed the removal of the House ban on headgear would allow Omar to wear a Hijab on the House floor.
I've come upon a few comments on Facebook by some folks who've gotten the vapors over Muslims being elected to office. Ironically, these are the same folks objecting to government discriminating against Christians. If someone wants to cast their vote for a Christian, Jew, Muslim, Atheist or worshiper of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, then it's none of our business.
It isn't Tlaib's religion that has her in the news today. Speaking to a crowd at an event sponsored by progressive Democrats - yes, I know I'm being redundant - Tlaib said, regarding President Trump, ".......we're gonna go in there and we're going to impeach the motherfucker."
Of course, that comment caused more Americans to get the aforementioned vapors. One isn't allowed to say the word "motherfucker" in polite society, after all.
Others were upset that the vulgar word "impeach" was also used.
Obviously, I'm not easily offended by the word "motherfucker" - I wouldn't have used it so many times in this post if I were. You know, "sticks and stone......." and all that.
I just see the absurdity of trying to impeach Trump. Sure, there are enough far-out Democrats -again I'm being redundant - in the House to impeach him, but the whole thing will come to nothing because the Republican controlled Senate will not vote to remove him from office.
Any Democrat who believes otherwise is just a stupid motherfucker.

Stupid Meme
In the past couple of weeks, I've seen an anti-muslim meme posted onto Facebook on at least two occasions. Posted as a jpg., the meme reads, as follows:
How stupid are we?
"We allow our government to flood our nation with Muslims, give them welfare for life (with multiple wives), and then tell us we must not offend them 'or we will go to prison'. Islamic immigration has destroyed every country in Europe, and it will destroy both Canada and the US.
Are we so stupid that we'll stand by and let this happen to our country?"
The first time I came upon this meme, I left a comment on the Facebook page where it appeared. I was highly critical of the meme but it was obvious that I wasn't going to change anyone's mind.
I came across the meme again yesterday, and I was tempted to leave another critical comment, when I was reminded of a quote by one of my favorite writers, Elizabeth von Arnim -
"............the less a person knows, the more certain he is that he is right, and that no weapons yet invented are of any use in a struggle with stupidity."
The person who had posted the meme was obviously a person described in the von Armin quote, and I'd be wasting my time trying to change the mind (such as it is) of that person.
However, I could not leave this unanswered. I could, at least comment on the meme in this blog.
From the content of the meme, there's no way of knowing if the original writer was American or Canadian. The posters I knew are Americans, so I will address it from the standpoint that they believe it applies to the USA.
I'll address the wording in sections.
"We allow our government to flood our nation with Muslims.......". According to the US Constitution, the government cannot exclude immigrants based on their religion. There's freedom of religion in the US and Muslims can't be prevented from immigrating.
"......give them welfare for life......". I know a few Muslims and none are on welfare.
".....(with multiple wives)...". I worked with a Muslim whose family had immigrated from the Middle East. At the time of their immigration, his father had two wives. The US government would only allow him to bring one wife.
".........and then tell us we must not offend them 'or we will go to prison'.......". This is a totally ridiculous notion. No one is in prison in the United States for offending Muslims.
As I said, I don't expect to change anyone's opinion, but I feel better after putting in my 2 cent's worth.

P.C. Patrol Enabling the Mentally Ill.
According to the Huffing and Puffington Post, Filipinos Aren’t Happy With This White Woman Claiming To Be Filipina.
In Tampa Florida, someone going by the name Ja Du is self-identifying as a Filipina, despite the fact that he was born a white male. Sadly, the writer of the article, Kimberly Yam insists on referring to "Ja Du" using pronouns such as "she" and "her".
In the video embedded in the article, Ja Du is seen driving around in a "motorized rickshaw" which he claims is called a "tuk tuk". I haven't seen any quite like the one Ja Du is driving in Philippines, but similar vehicles are called "tricycles" or "pedicabs", not "tuk tuk". He'd know that had he ever traveled to Philippines.
An article on the story at truthrevolt.org quotes a local psychologist, Dr.Stacey Beth Scheckner, who maintains that Ja Du's delusions are perfectly fine and dandy:
"If someone feels that they feel at home with a certain religion, a certain race, a certain culture, I think that if that’s who they really feel inside life is about finding out who you are. The more knowledge you have of yourself, the happier you can be. And, as long as it’s not hurting yourself or anyone else, I don’t see a problem with that.
"If that’s who they are and they want to celebrate it and enjoy it, then you have to think what harm is it doing? All they want to do is throw themselves into that culture and celebrate it.
"I think before we get offended, we need to take a step back and think about what is the harm."
The only thing that offends me about this situation, is that quacks like Scheckner are enabling Ja Du's mental illness.

No Birth Certificate for Allah
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I've been meaning to write about the Atlanta family battling state over right to name daughter Allah for a few days. I'm finally getting around to it.
It was a headline on the Drudge Report which first alerted me to the story of Elizabeth Handy and Bilal Walk, who would not be issued a birth certificate for their daughter. As it turns out, the details of the story are different from what I imagined they would be. I assumed from the headline that the Georgia Department of Public Health had refused to issue the infant a birth certificate with that name from some sort of "political correctness". We can't be insulting Muslims by giving girls the first name Allah, after all.
As it turns out, the Georgia Department of Public Health had an actual, legitimate reason for the refusal. Allah was not to be the child's first name, but rather her surname.
"State officials, however, said the child's name — ZalyKha Graceful Lorraina Allah — does not fit the naming conventions set up by state law. They say that ZalyKha's last name should either be Handy, Walk or a combination of the two."
The State's explanation seemed logical to me, until I read that Handy and Walk have a three-year-old son who was given a birth certificate for his name, Masterful Allah, with no problem. But, even there, a simple explanation is likely. I'm sure that when the older son was issued his name, the particular Georgia Department of Public Health worker who OKed the name was probaly unaware of the state law regarding surname conventions. When the girl was to be named, the Georgia Department of Public Health worker in charge of issuing her birth certificate was more knowledgable of State regulations.
Handy and Walk have been dealing with the state on this issue for at least two years. General counsel Sidney Barrett wrote that, once the birth record is created, ZalyKha's surname can be changed through a petition to superior court; this obvious solution would be not unlike the solution found by Frank and Gale Zappa when the hospital in California would not register the name "Dweezil" on the birth certificate of their first son.
This whole story is not at all news worthy. Had the parents chosen another surname - like, Smith, for example - there wouldn't have been any reason for Drudge to link to the story in the first place. Not exactly fake news, but useless news.

Inappropriate Appropriation
I first became aware of inappropriate appropriation about a year ago when I came upon the story of a San Francisco State University environmental science student named Cory Goldstein who was attacked by a black student for sporting dreadlocks on campus. I felt at the time that, as more black men choose to shave their heads rather than sport dreadlocks, it was more likely that I would be guilty of cultural appropriation by shaving my head. Other than a very few Rastafarians, black men - as a general rule - don't wear dreadlocks.
Not long after that post, I had pretty much forgotten about inappropriate appropriation until I came upon a story of Hispanic students at Pitzer College in Claremont, California protesting the wearing of hoop earrings by white girls. They accused the white girls of "appropriating styles … that belong to the black and brown folks" and "exploiting the culture."
Not long after reading the Pitzer College story, I came upon a news item about a Canadian New Democratic party candidate pleading guilty to - and apologizing for - her inappropriate appropriation by quoting Beyoncé in a Tweet.
With these examples of inappropriate appropriation, I was certain that I had seen the pinnacle of Progressive racial craziness. I was wrong, however.
No, the ultimate expression of Liberal lunacy came when I came upon an editorial piece by daily49er Staff Writer, Samantha Diaz who believes milk has become a new sign of racism in America.
Diaz writes,
Milk has now become a symbol of racial superiority for white nationalists and neo-Nazis, claiming that their ability to process milk makes them racially superior.
Like many commenting on the article, I believed that Diaz was either insane or a clever satirist. I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, until I took a look at other samples of editorial writing by Diaz. Sadly, she shows no sign in any of her other articles of having any talent for satirical writing. It looks as if she was entirely serious when she told us that milk is the new symbol of hate.
No word on the status of chocolate milk and whether it is another example of inappropriate appropriation.

Further Evidence Regarding the Death of the Intelligent Scammer.
Almost one year ago, February 21, 2016, I had a post entitled Death of the (Reasonably) Intelligent E-mail Scammer where I lamented that one would-be scammer sent an email to me, while pretending to be from Google regarding my Gmail account, sent said email via mbay.net rather than Gmail.
Someone, somewhere must have fallen for this because I received a similar scam email today from "Google" using an alminar.es email account.
Sigh.
No imagination.

Wyoming Seeks Ban on Wind and Solar Energy
The fact that discussion on climate change is oriented more toward politics and less toward science disturbs me a great deal. While I agree with Pope Francis that destroying the planet is a sin, the political climate today makes an understanding of the planet's climate difficult, if not impossible. On one side of the argument, we have people who proclaim that every weather event - extreme heat, extreme cold, heavy rain, drought conditions - is proof that man is destroying the Earth, while on the other side, we have folks who are willing to deny any problem what so ever.
It doesn't help us understand the true situation, when we hear stories of one state legislature attempting to ban the use of solar or wind energy to produce electricity in their state. According to more than one source, lawmakers in Wyoming have introduced a bill that would forbid utilities from providing any electricity to the state that comes from large-scale wind or solar energy projects by 2019.
Of course, with the prevalence of 'fake news' today, I had to track down the story to see if there was any truth behind it. I've read SENATE FILE NO. SF0071 and the reports I've read appear to be true.
I understand the need for law makers to be skeptical; look honestly into the science behind the issue, and make the most educated accessment. However, I cannot for the life of me understand why any law maker would want to ban wind or solar energy projects. What sort of head up your butt logic is behind this?
Even if the claims of certain enviornmentalists are exaggerated - or even outright lies - why would anyone consider banning alternate energy sources. If you want to provide evidence to the climate change folks that you're in the pocket of Big Oil (or Big Coal) you've certainly done that.

Incredibly Stupid Facebook Meme
Whenever I come across Facebook memes like the one pictured here, my mind nearly zombiefies at the thought that there are ignorant people in this world who would believe such nonsense.
Does anyone in their right mind actually believe that, if you "Like" a photo of U.S. currency - in denominations of fifty and one hundred - God would shower you with cold, hard cash within the next 24 hours? Oh, yeah......you're supposed to "share" and comment with "Amen" in order for God's magic fairy dust to work.
Even if you thought that there might be some slight possibility that God would do this particular favor because it's you that took the trouble to like, share and amen this photo, wouldn't it seem obvious that God knows the proper spelling for the word "receive"?

Quite Possibly the Strangest Video You'll See Today
Back in January, 2012 I came upon the story of a Seattle woman named Babylonia Aivaz, who took it upon herself to marry a building. That's right, she had a ceremony of her marrying a building. It was said she did this to prevent the building from being demolished.
During that time period, when her story was fresh, I came upon a video of her just before the ceremony and uploaded that video to Youtube. I had pretty much forgotten about the video. The video received a few comments four years ago, but since then, the comments have averaged about one a year. I was reminded of this when I received an email letting me know that someone had seen the video and left a new comment.
I'll post the video below, but there is more to the story.
When I received the comment notification, I decided to watch the video again - it's been years since I've seen it. After watching the video, I searched on line to find any updates on the "marriage". I found nothing related to the marriage, but I discovered that Babylonia Aivaz has her own Youtube channel. That's how I found her "HOW TO OPEN YOUR THIRD EYE" video. I'm posting that video below without any introduction, other than to say that this one is stranger than the "marriage" video.

Dems with TDS want to Prosecute Trump Before EC Vote.
In a sign of total desperation due to a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, someone named D. Kunfro has started an on line petition at change.org asking the US Justice Department, the Attorney General, and the Department of Homeland Security to "Prosecute Trump for illegal offenses before the Dec.19 Electoral College Vote"
The petition reads:
"We respectfully call upon the appropriate Federal Authorities to thoroughly investigate the many possible illegal offenses of Donald Trump, the Trump Corporations, and the Trump Foundation before the members of the Electoral College meet to cast their final vote on Dec. 19. The Electoral College was created by the framers of the constitution to protect against corrupt demagogues; the Electors should be given the full opportunity to vote their conscience if it is formally determined that Trump has broken the law. Throughout the campaign, allegations of Trump's illegal activities have surfaced: tax evasion, business scams, tenant intimidation, hiring of undocumented workers, illegal trade, bribery, sexual assault, incitement of violence, and collusion with a foreign government to influence an American election. If Trump is guilty of crimes, he does not deserve to be our President".
At the time of this post, the petition has garnered 50,193 supporters. I'm not one.
Needless to say, I won't link to the petition.

Calexit? Chillax.
With the election of Donald Trump as POTUS, some have pushed the idea of Calexit – the idea that California should become an independent state – to the front burner.
Liberals have long been threatening to leave the United States should Trump be elected. Now, they want to take part of the country with them when they go.
There seems to be a bit of confusion on what it is they want to do regarding secession from the Union. Some are advocating that the States of Washington, Oregon and California seceede and join up with Canada. It's unlikely that Canada would go along with that scheme. Others, however are advocating that California go it on its own.
Many of these folks seem to have forgotten - or perhaps, never learned - that the United States government doesn't look kindly on States that vote to leave the nation. Last time I checked, California doesn't have a military force of its own that would be capable of defeating the United States military.
Of course, those wishing to see California secede have their own website - Yes California.org. Just what are the group's arguments for leaving the U.S. - other than throwing a tempter tantrum now that Trump will soon enter the White House?
From the website:
THE CASE FOR INDEPENDENCE IN 9 SIMPLE POINTS
1. PEACE AND SECURITY
The U.S. Government spends more on its military than the next several countries combined. Not only is California forced to subsidize this massive military budget with our taxes, but Californians are sent off to fight in wars that often do more to perpetuate terrorism than to abate it. The only reason terrorists might want to attack us is because we are part of the United States and are guilty by association. Not being a part of that country will make California a less likely target of retaliation by its enemies.
Is California going to be able to match the "massive military budget" should the Federal Govt. decide not to accept Calexit? Being part of the U.S. is not the only reason terrorists might want to attack you. Islamists see American society as decadent, and News Flash: California society isn't less decadent than the rest of the U.S.. They'll still hate you.
So, why should we keep subjecting ourselves to presidents we play no role in electing, to 382 representatives and 98 senators we can’t vote for, and all the government officials and federal judges appointed by those very same people we don’t elect.
No State has complete autonomy. Every State in the Union subjects itself to representatives and Senators they can't vote for. Suck it up.
On top of that, the United States is dragging California into the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement which conflicts with our values.
Trump doesn't like the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement either.
As a U.S. state, our immigration system was largely designed by the 49 other states thirty years ago. This immigration system has since neglected the needs of the California economy and has hurt too many California families. Independence means California will be able to decide what immigration policies make sense for our diverse and unique population, culture, and economy, and that we’ll be able to build an immigration system that is consistent with our values.
A country with even more porous borders? Good luck with that.
NATURAL RESOURCES/THE ENVIRONMENT
An independent California will have an EPA on steroids.
The Affordable Care Act was enacted by the U.S. Government to lower the cost of health care and expand health insurance coverage to the uninsured, yet millions of Californians still lack access to quality health care because they can’t afford it.
So, you wanted Clinton to expand the Affordable Care Act. Maybe that's because......
California has some of the best universities but in various ways, our schools are among the worst in the country. Not only does this deprive our children of the education they deserve, but it also costs taxpayers billions in social services and law enforcement expenses linked to lacking opportunities resulting from poor education.
And you want to continue on your Liberal, Progressive free-fall?
Anti Obama folks wanted to secede after he was elected. Just like that group, you'll see staying in the Union is your best option.

Pope Francis: Women Will Be Banned From Priesthood Forever
Some folks just won't take 'no' for an answer.
In 1994, Pope John Paul II wrote in an apostolic letter, Ordinatio Sacerdotalis that "the Church has no authority whatsoever to confer priestly ordination on women". and "priestly ordination, which hands on the office entrusted by Christ to his Apostles of teaching, sanctifying and governing the faithful, has in the Catholic Church from the beginning always been reserved to men alone".
Now, hoping that Pope Francis will contradict Saint Pope John Paul II, a Swedish journalist asked the Pope whether it was realistic to think that there might be female priests in the next few decades.
According to reports, Francis responded, "On the ordination of women in the Catholic Church, the last word is clear."
"It was given by St. John Paul II, and this remains," Francis said.
Still, the Swedish journalist asked, "Really? Never?"
How many times does it have to be spelled out?
No female priests in the Catholic Church. You don't like it? Become a Protestant. That's pretty simple.

Scammer Grammar
I love email scammers.
It amazes me that these scammers believe anyone would fall for the crap they put forward. I received an email this morning from "Willie Chester" which tops my list for worst email scam of the year.
Can any native English speaker believe that the creator of this particular email is intelligent enough to have a job as a "Foreign operation manager" ?
I post the email exactly as it was sent to me:
MONEY GRAM OFFICE ARKANSAS /ADDRESS 1920 S Arkansas St·

Man Impregnates Woman and World Goes Insane.
My vote for the most insanely stupid headline of the century goes to express.co.uk with their lede, "Transgender man gives birth to his OWN BABY in world first".
The article gets difficult to follow, so I'll try and unravel it.
It begins, "A TRANSGENDER couple has become the first to have their own child after a man gave birth to his own baby."
Absolutely wrong. The article states, "Fernando Machado, who used to be a woman, met Diane Rodriguez, who used to be a man, on social media two years ago and started a relationship."
Fernando was born a woman and remains so. She has had no "corrective surgery" and remains biologically a woman even though she believes herself to be a man. Her spouse, Diane was born a man and remains so. Fernanado still has a functioning vagina and uterus while Diane still has a working penis.
Dressing up in the other gender's clothes and changing your name does not make a man a woman or make a woman a man.
This is simply a case of a woman, who thinks she's a man, getting pregnant by a man who imagines himself to be a woman.
Sorry, but a man did not give birth to a baby.
First Debate Did Nothing to Change My Mind.
Like 100 million other folks, I suffered through the first debate in the Clinton/Trump Slugfest, and as I expected, both sides are claiming its candidate the winner. The Clinton News Network (aka CNN) has "fact checked" many of Trump's statements during the debate and , naturally found those particular statements untrue. Of course, that is CNN after all, and you wouldn't expect otherwise.
I also expected, before the debate, that my dislike for both these douchebags would remain the same no matter what happened. That expectation was realized. All through out this election, I've maintained that choosing between Trump and Clinton is like choosing between mustard or mayo on your shit sandwich. I have not wavered in this assessment.
One expectation not met was my believe that Clinton might very well have a medical episode during the 90 minute debate. That medical episode didn't happen, of course, but we still have two more to go.
What we saw in Trump was a true non-politician - an unpolished, off the cuff speaker. In Clinton we saw a politician who came with her list of practiced talking points who, for the most part, followed the script written for her. With Trump, we saw the real Donald Trump. We saw the real Hillary as well - a programed robot who doesn't understand spontaneity, except for perhaps programed spontaneity.

University Students Struggling to Read Entire Books
University students are struggling to read entire books.
Why?
Blame Whitey.
Lizzy Kelly, a history student at Sheffield University says:
"Students might be more inclined to read what academics want them to if our curricula weren’t overwhelmingly white, male and indicative of a society and structures we fundamentally disagree with because they don't work for us."

Death of the (Reasonably) Intelligent E-mail Scammer.
It's been almost five years since I last took a serious (?) look at online scammers. In those days, I would contact a scammer that had sent an email to one of my accounts. As long time followers of this blog recall, I would answer a scammers email while posing as Lucy Ricardo, or Fred Sanford or Misty Meaner, to name just three of my on line characters.
It has been my experience that the intelligence of these Internet scammers has been over rated. None seemed too terribly bright to me. How someone could be taken in by some of these guys is beyond me.
Now, my opinion of the intelligence on line scammers has fallen even lower - I would not have thought that possible.
Pictured above is a screen shot of a recent phishing scam email I received in one of my Gmail accounts. The scammer wants his victims to believe the email comes from Google, but the email address of the sender is mbay.net - It would obvious to even the most Internet challenged that an email from Google would not come from some placed called mbay.net - an email from Google would come from an address with google.com in the name.
Duh.
Have the scammers become so stupid that they believe their potential victims are complete imbeciles?
This particular scammer - colonel6 - must really be a complete airhead; too stupid, in fact to make goofin' on him enjoyable.

Typical Motorcycle Driver in Dumaguete.
Here we have an example of a typical motorcycle driver in Dumaguete.
As you can see. he has covered his head with a baby blue piece of some sort of clothing. The reason for this is because he is more concerned about the sun not tanning his skin than he is with driving safely.
You can use the Petron gas station on the right as a frame of reference for judging his speed and the time involved in the four photos.

Woman Calls 911 After Finding Spider.
A woman in Michigan found a black widow spider in a package of grapes which she had purchased in a Walmart Super-center.
The oddest thing in this story, is that the young lady called 911.
"I told them that 'this isn't really an emergency, but I have a Black Widow spider in my grapes and I don't really know what to do," the woman's boyfriend told local TV. "He kind of just paused and was like, 'kill it' and I was like 'you want me to kill it? You're not going to send anyone over?' This is a poisonous spider and he's like, 'yeah, just kill it and throw it away.' "
The boyfriend also said it took "quite a few sprays" of insect killer to kill the spider.
First, it's amazing to me that anyone would feel the need to call 911 because she found a spider in her produce. Secondly, who needs to be told to kill a Black Widow spider, and why would you even bother to hunt up the bug spray? Kill the thing with you @#$#@^ shoe.
Finally, the woman and her boyfriend would "still really appreciate an apology from Walmart."
Really?
It shouldn't be all that surprising to find a spider or insect crawling around a fruit or vegetable. That should be common sense. Walmart cannot possibly be held responsible for anything such as this.

Does America Need Gender-Neutral Pronouns?
Thanks to an an opinion piece by Todd Starnes on FoxNews.com, I learned that the University of Tennessee – Knoxville’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion is worried that certain traditional English personal pronouns might be offensive.
According to Donna Braquet, Director of the University of Tennessee Pride Center, rather than assume that the person we are addressing is a he or a she , we should use a singular gender-neutral pronoun such as ze , hir , hirs , and xe , xem or, xyr .
Braquet writes
"How do you know what pronoun someone uses? If you cannot use the methods mentioned above, you can always politely ask. 'Oh, nice to meet you, [insert name]. What pronouns should I use?' is a perfectly fine question to ask".
This is not a new argument. Every few years, I come across some opinion piece telling me that the English personal pronouns that have been in use for centuries are either sexist or homophobic. The claim is that our society will be much more enlightened and inclusive if we would only eliminate the words he or she .
People on both sides of the cultural divide believe that the change in personal pronouns will bring about a change in our society - some believe for the better - some believe for the worse.
After becoming familiar with Filipino culture and three of the more than a dozen regional languages spoken here, I no longer buy into the idea than a change in English personal pronouns will have much affect on American culture.
I can't say anything about the personal pronouns in many of the Filipino languages, but I can comment on three - Cebuano, Ilocano, and Tagalog. In each of these three, there is no separate word for he or she. In all three, the word for he or she is siya. Just as English makes no gender distinction with the word they -meaning "those people", Cebuano, Ilocano, and Tagalog do the same with sila ("those people") as well as siya for "that person".
Having singular gender-neutral pronouns hasn't caused Philippines to become a Feminist and/or LGBTQ Utopia. Same-sex "marriage" is not on the horizon, in spite of the fact that Tagalog doesn't have separate words for "husband" or "wife" - the Tagalog word is "asawa" for either spouse.
Contrary to what Donna Braquet might believe, gender-neutral pronouns in English won't bring about the world she might want. Neither will the change in pronouns destroy the United States.
The U.S. has bigger problems.
